St. Louis

St. Louis is a metropolitan city in Missouri, with a population of 2,221,000. The city is most known
for the Gateway Arch, ice cream cones, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. The relative atmosphere of the city is family friendly, with plenty of nightlife. On average, St. Louis welcomes 25 million tourists a year, most of which are domestic tourists.
This fictitious ad campaign was a challenge to create ads for the tourism industry that could be used throughout the country in different formats. The main target audiences were travelers, and people over the age of 21, since those are the people who are most likely to spend money to travel to the city, as well as spend money on attractions. With families, there are a lot of activities for every age.

These advertisements follow a similar layout across each piece, with photographs showcasing local sites that you can see throughout the city. One features The Gateway Arch, the city's most recognizable attraction, while the other two photographs used feature lesser known attractions, the St. Louis Art Museum, and Forest Park. These attractions appeal to different kinds of people, therefore broadening the intended audience.

I wanted to highlight some of the other sites St. Louis had to offer alongside the city's most infamous attraction, giving the viewers a different sight than what first comes to mind. Using different views that may interest people, I chose two other attractions that can appeal to different types of people. These attractions aren't unknown, but to a
non-local, they may seem appealing when laid out next to the arch, enticing people to come.

This project was an interesting dive into a type of ad that is all over the place: tourism. I have never been to St. Louis, so I got to do some research into the city, and I was able to see what attractions it had to offer, and what I could try to showcase to attract different demographics to the city. It was a challenge to find photographs I could use that showcased these attractions in appealing ways.
